We offer a unique B&B stay in an old converted lighthouse,  built in 1821,  now a grade 11 listed building. All rooms are wedge-shaped,  with walls three foot thick.  All accommodation is within the lighthouse,  which makes the West Usk unusual. The entrance hall is slate bedded,  with an internal wishing well,  and stone spiral staircase.

All the letting rooms are on the first floor,  en-suite, with colour TV/DVD player,  Tea/coffee making.  We have  a king size waterbed and 4-poster beds,  all at different prices,  ranging from £110-£160 per night,  B&B for 2 people.  Single from £75-£110 a night.  Not all rooms overlook the sea. Please note that we do not have a restaurant.  We now have an authentic mongolian yurt for B&B or self catering.

All rooms are en-suite. The decor is eclectic, not chic or minimilistic!  You will defintely learn to relax here.

Guests can take in the 360 degree, panoramic view from the roof garden   which has a mediterranean feel to it. Barbecues are a must,  weather permitting. Now there is a hot tub on the roof for you to enjoy as well as an infra red sauna in the grounds.  Bring swimming gear and robes.

We provide lots and lots of therapies, but the most popular is the Flotation Tank,  where you lie on the surface of the water for an hour,  while you de-stress. Combine this with a body massage with oil and we know that you won't regret a penny spent on these pampering sessions.  From £40-£90.

You could also order champagne,  flowers and chocolate; be taken in the Rolls Royce to the local restaurant, or if you fancy you could release balloons or doves and watch them fly across the estuaries.  You could say your vows  or make a pledge to your loved one in front of witnesses if you want to.  We can also arrange live music for that special occasion! The opportunity is there to make your stay very romantic. Car: from £60 return.

There are walks if you want to exercise. You could go fishing by the lighthouse or bird watching. Or you could simply rest  and  catch up on your sleep.  That's fine as well.  We also send out vouchers for floats and B&B.  We have uploaded some pictures on www.redbubble.com/people/daniellesh for cards & prints.

Cancellation Policy: Once you make a booking,  the  room is yours.  We take a credit card to guarantee the reservation. Cancellation charges  will apply if  we can't re-let -  full cost within 48 hours of your stay, 70% within a month,  and thereafter 50% . We therefore strongly recommend some form of annual holiday insurance,  which will cover you for your main holiday as well. Churchill Insurance can give you a good deal.

There are so many places that you can  visit - Tredegar House, The Welsh Folk Museum,  Cardiff Castle, Raglan Castle,  The towns of Usk, Chepstow, Penarth and Caerleon, Cardiff Bay Barrage,  Flat Holm island, and many other attractions. see our Brochure page for more information. For music events in South Wales, please visit www.livenation.co.uk/Cardiff  or www.southernwales.com,and  www.bbc.co.uk/wales for other events in the area.

We are only 2 hours' drive from London Hammersmith; 10 miles  Cardiff and 4 miles Newport. Most of our guests dine at the Elm Tree,  but there are pubs and other restaurants nearby. Restaurants: Inn at the Elm Tree on 01633 680225, Junction 28 on 891 891 or for a top fish restaurant, try the Chandlery on 256622, Port O'Call  on 680171 and the Farmers Daughter on  892800. There is also a good indian restaurant, the Cinnamon Tree on 689082 at the Peterstone Golf Club.  Most of these restaurants do an early bird menu from Monday to Thursday - 2 courses around £12.

Taxis on 01633 216 216.  If you intend to use a taxi,  please reserve as soon as you can.

Check-in time: anytime after 4.30-5p.m,  unless pre-arranged,  and check-out is 11 am unless you are having therapies.  We can cater for vegans and vegetarians if you inform us when you book.  A recent article in the Sunday Times (Dec. 05) described us as "a touch ramshackle,  but that adds to the charm: there's a friendly Dalek in the hall for some reason!" so look out!

Directions: M4 J28 for Newport.  Then B4239 for Duffyn.  Take first left at mini roundabout. Drive for 2 miles, then turn left at B&B sign into long winding bumpy private road.  If you are using a sat nav,  do not turn into Pont Estelle Road, just carry on and you will see the sign for us.
